Abstract
This presentation will introduce a number of initiatives Wikimedia Deutschland has engaged in to promote media literacy and competent use of free content. Wikipedia is used as the primary example in these initiatives as use of Wikipedia content has become ubiquitous. The primary focus of these initiatives lies in secondary schools. In addition, institutions of higher education are targeted as well. As part of this session, we will be presenting the concept, initial obstacles, the fundraising and sponsorship concept, and the successes so far. This session is well-suited for participants interested in starting media literacy campaigns in their respective regions.
